How to Clean Glass Shower Doors With Dryer Sheets and Lemon Oil

Don’t throw away those used fabric softening sheets from your dryer — you can use them to wash the shower door. They effectively remove soap scum and save you the annoyance of mixing a cleaning solution. Once you’re done, a small lemon oil produces the glass shine.

Dryer Sheet Cleaning

You could always use new dryer sheets, but used ones work so nicely it is well worth keeping them at a special bucket once you take them out of the dryer. Wet one down with water and use it to wipe off soapy films from the glass, the frame and the handle. Once you’re done, pour a small lemon oil onto a sponge and rub down the doorway. The lemon oil produces both the glass and the metallic shine.

Add a Little Vinegar

If the dryer sheet does not remove all the white streaks from the doorway, it is likely as they’re mineral deposits left by hard water. Those won’t come off with dryer sheets or with soap and water, but vinegar will remove them. After wiping down using the dryer sheet, then spray the doorway with full-strength vinegar, then wipe it away and rinse with water. You are now ready to make the shower door shine using a coat of lemon oil.
