Is Vinegar a Natural Home Deodorizer?

Spilled foods or liquids and pets may render your rug somewhat less than fresh in the fragrance section. Vinegar is a natural alternative to chemical-based deodorizers and carpet or rug fresheners, and in addition, it helps clean problem spots such as stains as it deodorizes.

Vinegar in Action

Blot up as much of the material so it does not soak into if the rug odor is the result of pet accident or a spill and spread via the rug fibers. Folded paper towels or old towels positioned beneath and atop the rug draw the liquid out. By whipping a deodorizing solution up with equal parts water and vinegar treat the odors. The solution over the rug, or for odors, place the rug over a sink or washtub and pour some of their liquid over the issue areas. Allow the solution to sit for 10 minutes or so, and then blot it away using a towel or rags. Any remaining vinegar odor will dissipate on its own. Onto the rug, sprinkle baking soda for curricular power. Allow it to sit for many hours, and then vacuum or brush it off.
