The way to Adjust Two Panel Traverse Curtain Rods

The way to Adjust Two Panel Traverse Curtain Rods

Whether you’re installing a brand new traverse rod or tuning up an old pole, you can ensure that the curtains open and close properly by correcting the master carriers — the moving components where the curtain pins are attached. It is possible to adjust the master carriers by correcting the draw cord in the pole.

Preparation

Remove the curtains and hooks in the carriers and then place them apart. Detach the traverse rod in the brackets. Lay the pole on a flat work surface with the station and carriers facing upwards. Loosen the cord lock to the underlap master carrier, typically the ideal carrier. Based on the brand of pole, the cord lock might be a button or “fingers” which hold the cord set on the underlapping carrier.

Overlap Master Carrier

Have the correct amount of slide carriers at the traverse station between the ends of the pole and the master carriers. Pull the cord to move the overlapping master carrier — usually the left carrier — toward the left end of the pole until it meets the stack of slides.

Underlapping Master Carrier

Hold the cords taut. Move the underlapping master carrier with your hand until it meets the stack of slides at the station at the ideal end of the pole. Fasten the cord lock to secure the cord to the underlapping master carrier. Pull the cord to move the master carriers to the middle of the pole. Secure the pole to the brackets and hang the curtains.
